"This is not philanthropy. This should be a cost of doing business. It’s paying rent for our use of the planet."

Incase partners with 1% for the Planet

We’re proud to announce our partnership with 1% for the Planet. As a company, Incase has always been committed to pushing the boundaries of responsible design. Challenging what it means to create a better experience through good design and, now, we’re honored to say we’ve taken the next step in our journey. As a 1% for the Planet partner, we’re donating 1% of all global online sales to an environmentally-minded non-profit committed to doing the on-the-ground work it takes to protect our planet.

1% for the Planet was created by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue-Ribbon Files, as a global movement to ensure our planet and future generations thrive. Together, we know that what’s good for the planet is good for business. And, as far as we’re concerned, Yvon had it right when he said that investing back into the environment is the best way we can pay rent for our use of the planet. Right now, only 3% of total philanthropy dollars goes to the environment and, of that, only 5% comes from businesses. That’s not good enough.

“When you donate to 1% for the Planet,        you’re investing in the systems that          generate more environmental giving.”

We know we still have a long way to go as a company and an industry when it comes to sustainable and responsible design. Of course the materials we use matter, our production practices make a difference, and the way we utilize our resources — from people to planet — all contribute. But doing good also means taking action. That’s why joining 1% for the Planet is just another step in our journey toward true, holistic, responsible design.

“We are borrowing our planet from future generations.”

“To do good, you actually have to do  something.”
